TextHalo ("we," "our," or "us") is designed with a "Privacy First" philosophy. We believe that your writing and your API keys belong to you. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data.

1. Data Collection

We do not collect, store, or share any of your personal data.

TextHalo operates as a client-side application on your macOS device. We have no backend servers, no user accounts, and no tracking analytics.

2. OpenAI API Key

To function, TextHalo requires you to provide your own OpenAI API Key ("Bring Your Own Key" model).

• Your API Key is stored locally on your device (specifically within your Mac's secure storage/User Defaults).
• Your API Key is never sent to our servers (because we don't have any).
• It is sent directly from your device to OpenAI's official API solely to authenticate your requests.

3. How Your Text is Processed

When you use features like "Refine," "Summarize," or "Grammar," the text you select is sent directly from your Mac to OpenAI's servers for processing.

• Direct Connection: The data transmission happens directly between your computer and OpenAI. TextHalo acts only as an interface.
• No Intermediaries: We do not see, read, store, or have access to the text you process.

4. App Permissions

TextHalo requests Accessibility Permissions solely to perform its core function: reading the text you selected and replacing it with the AI-generated version. This permission is used strictly for this purpose and not for monitoring your system.

5. Changes to This Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Since we do not collect user emails, we advise you to review this page periodically for any changes.
