Privacy Policy

In brief: BeforeShare inspects supported files on your Mac. It does not require an account, run advertising or analytics, or upload your document contents to the developer's servers.

1. Who is responsible for this policy?

BeforeShare is developed and provided by Mehmet Şişoğlu in Türkiye. Privacy and support questions can be sent to mehmet.sisoglu@gmail.com.

2. Scope

This policy applies to the BeforeShare macOS application and this legal page. It describes information processed locally by the app, information handled by Apple for App Store purchases, and information you voluntarily provide when contacting support.

3. Files and information processed on your Mac

BeforeShare processes only files you explicitly select, drag into the app, or send through a supported macOS integration. Depending on the file and enabled settings, inspection may include:

  • PDF structure, metadata, annotations, attachments, form fields, actions, and possible failed redactions;
  • JPEG, PNG, and HEIC metadata, including location and device details when present;
  • visible text recognized on-device with Apple Vision; and
  • patterns such as email addresses, phone numbers, IBANs, payment-card-like sequences, URLs, IP addresses, and user-defined regular expressions.

This processing is initiated by you and occurs on your Mac. Original files and full OCR text are not uploaded to the developer.

4. Local storage

BeforeShare may save a local scan-history record containing the file name, file type, scan date, result status, risk counts and categories, masked finding values, review status, and processing duration. Original files, complete document text, full OCR output, and complete sensitive values are not stored in the SwiftData history database.

If you explicitly enable remembered file access, BeforeShare stores a macOS security-scoped bookmark so selected history items can reopen a file at its original location. You can disable this feature in Settings. Clean copies and exported reports are saved only to locations you choose.

5. Temporary processing

The app may create temporary working files while inspecting or generating a clean copy. These files are stored in the app's temporary container and are removed when the operation finishes or during later system cleanup. The app never intentionally replaces the source file.

6. Data collection, tracking, and sharing

BeforeShare does not use an analytics SDK, advertising SDK, cross-app tracking, developer-operated document server, user account system, or CloudKit synchronization. The developer does not sell personal information or use inspected file contents for advertising, profiling, or model training.

7. App Store purchases

Purchases and restorations are processed by Apple through StoreKit and the App Store. Apple may process purchase, account, payment, tax, fraud-prevention, and device information under Apple's own terms and privacy policy. BeforeShare receives product and entitlement status needed to unlock Pro features; the developer does not receive your full payment-card details.

8. Support communications

If you email support, the developer receives the email address, name, message, and attachments you choose to provide. This information is used to respond, troubleshoot, prevent abuse, and maintain a record of the request when reasonably necessary. Email is handled through Gmail, a Google service, and may be processed where Google operates. Do not send sensitive source documents unless you have removed private content and intend to share them.

9. Retention, deletion, and choices

  • You can delete individual scan-history records or clear all history in the app.
  • You can disable remembered file access in Settings and remove stored bookmarks by deleting the related history.
  • Uninstalling the app normally removes its sandboxed local container, subject to macOS and backup behavior.
  • Source files, clean copies, and reports saved outside the app container remain until you delete them.
  • For access or deletion requests relating to support email, contact the address below. Messages may be retained when required for security, dispute resolution, or legal obligations.

10. Security and limitations

BeforeShare uses macOS sandboxing and on-device processing to reduce disclosure risk. No software or storage method is completely secure. BeforeShare identifies common risks but cannot detect every possible disclosure or guarantee that a file is safe. Review important files before sharing and keep appropriate backups.

11. Children

BeforeShare is a general-purpose utility and is not directed to children. The developer does not knowingly collect personal information from children through the app.

12. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding personal information provided in support communications, including access, correction, deletion, restriction, or objection. Send a request to the contact address below. Local app data remains under your control through the app and macOS.

13. Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated when BeforeShare's features or legal obligations change. The effective date will be revised when an updated version is published. Material changes will be communicated in the app or release information when appropriate.

End-User License Agreement

Apps from the App Store are licensed under Apple's Standard EULA unless a custom agreement is provided in App Store Connect. The following app-specific terms supplement that Standard EULA. Mandatory consumer rights in your country continue to apply.

1. Agreement and parties

This agreement is between you and Mehmet Şişoğlu, not Apple. The developer, not Apple, is responsible for BeforeShare and its content, subject to the responsibilities Apple accepts under its own terms.

2. License

Subject to these terms and the Apple Media Services Usage Rules, you receive a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use BeforeShare on Apple-branded products you own or control. Access by accounts associated with the purchaser through Family Sharing or volume purchasing is permitted where Apple and the product configuration allow it.

3. Ownership

BeforeShare, including its software, design, branding, and documentation, is licensed rather than sold and remains owned by Mehmet Şişoğlu and applicable licensors. Your source files and their contents remain yours or their respective owners' property.

4. User content and responsibility

You must have the legal right to access and process files you provide to BeforeShare. You control source files, scan decisions, generated copies, and reports. You are responsible for reviewing outputs, selecting suitable settings, maintaining backups, and deciding whether a file should be shared.

5. Acceptable use

You may not redistribute, rent, sublicense, misuse, interfere with, or bypass purchase controls in BeforeShare. You may not reverse engineer, disassemble, derive source code, modify, or create derivative works except to the extent such restrictions are prohibited by applicable law or permitted by an open-source component's license.

6. BeforeShare Pro and purchases

BeforeShare Pro is a one-time, non-consumable In-App Purchase processed by Apple. Availability, billing, refunds, Family Sharing, and purchase restoration are subject to App Store rules. A purchase unlocks the features described in the app at the time of purchase and does not promise every future feature or separate product.

7. Privacy

Your use of BeforeShare is also governed by the Privacy Policy above. The app does not require you to upload files to the developer. External services you choose to use, including Apple and email services, operate under their own terms.

8. No legal, security, or compliance guarantee

BeforeShare is an assistive privacy utility. It is not legal advice, a compliance certification, malware protection, forensic evidence, or a guarantee that a document is safe or properly redacted. Findings can include false positives, and unusual, malformed, encrypted, or unsupported content may not be detected.

9. Maintenance and support

The developer is solely responsible for maintenance and support required under applicable law or expressly offered for BeforeShare. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app. Support requests can be sent to the email address below.

10. Warranty and refunds

To the maximum extent permitted by law, BeforeShare is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties that may legally be disclaimed. If the app fails to conform to an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price in accordance with App Store rules. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation for BeforeShare; other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs, or expenses attributable to a failure to conform to a warranty are the developer's responsibility. Nothing here excludes mandatory consumer warranties or remedies.

11. Product and third-party claims

The developer, not Apple, is responsible for addressing claims relating to BeforeShare or your possession and use of it, including product-liability claims, claims that the app fails to meet legal or regulatory requirements, and claims under consumer-protection or privacy law. If a third party claims that BeforeShare infringes intellectual-property rights, the developer, not Apple, is responsible for investigating, defending, settling, and resolving that claim.

12. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the developer is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, lost-profit, business-interruption, or data-loss damages arising from use of or inability to use BeforeShare. Any total liability is limited to the amount you paid for BeforeShare during the twelve months before the claim. These limits do not apply where prohibited by law, including mandatory consumer rights or liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

13. Legal and export compliance

You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a United States Government embargo or designated as supporting terrorism and are not listed on a United States Government prohibited or restricted-party list. You must comply with applicable export, sanctions, and local laws and with relevant third-party terms when using BeforeShare.

14. Termination

This license remains effective until terminated by you or the developer. Your rights terminate automatically if you materially breach these terms. On termination, you must stop using and delete the app. Terms that by their nature should survive termination remain effective.

15. Governing law

These app-specific terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Türkiye, without limiting mandatory consumer protections, choice-of-law rules, or courts available to you under the law of your place of residence.

16. Apple as third-party beneficiary

Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms. Upon your acceptance, Apple has the right to enforce applicable provisions against you as a third-party beneficiary.
