ChannelHop

Privacy Policy & End User License Agreement

ChannelHop is a universal TV remote for iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch. This policy explains what the app does — and does not — do with information.

Privacy Policy

Last updated17 September 2026

A1The short version

ChannelHop does not collect, transmit or sell your personal data. There is no account to create, no analytics framework, no advertising and no tracking. Everything the app needs stays on your device or in your own private iCloud account.

A2Information the developer collects

None. ChannelHop has no servers of its own. The developer cannot see who uses the app, which televisions you control, or what you watch.

A3Information stored on your device

To work as a remote control, ChannelHop saves the following locally:

  • The name, brand, network address and identifier of each television you add.
  • The pairing credentials (tokens or keys) your television issues, so you do not have to approve the app again every time.
  • Your app settings, such as your preferred remote layout.

This information never leaves your devices and your private iCloud storage. Removing a television in Settings, or deleting the app, removes it.

A4iCloud sync

If you are signed in to iCloud, your saved televisions sync across your own Apple devices using Apple's CloudKit private database. That data lives in your personal iCloud account, is governed by Apple's privacy policy, and is not accessible to the developer. You can turn it off in your device settings for ChannelHop.

A5Local network access

ChannelHop asks for permission to find and connect to devices on your local network. This is required to discover televisions and send remote-control commands to them. The app communicates only with devices on the same network as you, and sends none of this information to the internet.

A6Analytics, advertising and tracking

ChannelHop contains no analytics frameworks, no advertising SDKs and no third-party trackers. It does not use the Advertising Identifier and never asks for permission to track you.

A7Third parties

The only third party involved is Apple, which provides iCloud sync and, if you make a purchase, App Store payment processing. The developer receives only the anonymised sales and diagnostic reports Apple makes available to every developer. Television manufacturers are not partners of ChannelHop; the app simply speaks the network protocols their devices publish.

A8Children

ChannelHop is suitable for all ages and knowingly collects no information from anyone, children included.

A9Your rights

Because the developer collects and stores no personal data, there is nothing to request, correct or export. To erase everything the app holds, delete the app from your device and remove its iCloud data in your device settings under iCloud storage management.

A10Security

Connections to your television use the security mechanisms each manufacturer provides, including TLS where the television supports it. Pairing credentials are kept in the app's protected storage on your device.

A11Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be published on this page with a new date, and material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.

License Agreement

Last updated17 September 2026

This End User License Agreement (the “Agreement”) is a legal agreement between you and Mehmet Sisoglu (the “Developer”) covering the ChannelHop application (the “App”). By downloading or using the App, you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the App.

B1Licence

The Developer grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the App on any Apple-branded device you own or control, as permitted by the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.

B2What you may not do

  • Copy, modify, translate, reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the App, except where applicable law prohibits this restriction.
  • Rent, lease, lend, sell, redistribute or sublicense the App.
  • Use the App to break the law, or to interfere with equipment you do not own or have permission to control.

B3Independence and trademarks

ChannelHop is an independent product. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by or certified by Samsung, LG, Roku, Google, Amazon, Apple or any other manufacturer. Brand and product names are used only to identify compatible equipment and remain the property of their respective owners. Manufacturers may change their software at any time, which can reduce or remove compatibility.

B4Purchases and subscriptions

Any optional purchase or subscription is billed through your Apple ID. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel a subscription in your Apple ID account settings. Refunds are handled by Apple under the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions.

B5No warranty

The App is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. The Developer does not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that it will remain compatible with any particular television. Nothing here limits statutory consumer rights that cannot be excluded.

B6Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Developer is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from your use of the App. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid for the App.

B7Termination

This licence ends automatically if you breach its terms, and ends whenever you delete the App. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will do so.

B8Apple

This Agreement is between you and the Developer only, and not with Apple. Apple is not responsible for the App or its content, has no obligation to provide maintenance or support, and is not responsible for addressing any claim relating to the App. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of this Agreement and may enforce it against you.

B9Governing law

This Agreement is governed by the laws of the Republic of Türkiye, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Mandatory consumer protection laws of your country of residence continue to apply.

ChannelHop is an independent app by Mehmet Sisoglu. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Samsung, LG, Roku, Google, Amazon or Apple. All product names, logos and brands are property of their respective owners and are used only to identify compatible equipment.
